COLORADO BLUE SPRUCE

COLORADO BLUE SPRUCE

COLORADO BLUE SPRUCE – In a class all of its own, the highly acclaimed COLRADO SPRUCE has been received directly from Hanuer’s Tree Farms, €œGrowers of Wisconsin State Champion Blue Spruce € to Heritage Hill Nursery, for our customers to savor.

Shearing is the most important 15 minutes in the life of a tree, and as you can see from the picture Hanuer’s takes that seriously! Bottom pruned and stand ready, the Colorado Blue makes a perfect tree for customers who prefer the blueish green color and cone-shaped top. The medium density branches almost scream, €œI am ready € for those heavier ornaments. Heritage Hill Nursery offers a wide selection of different sizes, but they will not be around for long so stop in after Thanksgiving and check them out.

WILT STOP®

WILT STOP®

Excessive moisture loss from plants causes severe wilting, shock, or plant death. It occurs in winter when drying winds and frozen ground deprive plants of their natural moisture intake. As the planting season comes to an end, there is one more thing that you can do to help give your plants that extra €˜edge’ for surviving the unpredictable Wisconsin winter.

WILT STOP® is a specially formulated concentrate that when sprayed onto the leaves, forms a protective clear flexible film coating which holds moisture within plant foliage without interfering with plant growth, thus reducing water loss during plant stress. The versatility allows use on a vast number of trees, shrubs, perennials, house plants, bulbs, cut Christmas trees and wreaths. To receive the full benefits for winter protection on live outdoor plants, application should be applied in the late fall when temperature is above freezing so that spray will not freeze on foliage. When spraying on arborvitae, cypress, juniper, and cedar, be aware that if species have not sufficiently hardened off for the winter whereby moisture retreats to the root system, moisture in plant cells could freeze and burst if early severe freezing weather should occur. It is especially important to thoroughly spray plants that are in danger of being exposed to salt water from areas where salt is used to melt snow and ice. If using on Christmas trees and wreaths to help prevent drying out, spray thoroughly before bringing inside. Due to the concentration, only one application per season is typically needed and can be found at Heritage Hill Nursery in two sizes.

Sunsparkler * Dazzleberry Sedum.

Sunsparkler * Dazzleberry Sedum.

Now that is a mouthful. This Sedum resists heat, drought and truly requires extraordinarily little care. It will do extremely well in poor soil once it gets established. Plant some and see.

They are quite easy to grow. The Sunsparkler* Dazzleberry Sedum will show off a great display of color as well as texture. Its foliage is an incredibly unique form of blue with shades of graphite that can not only be seen up close but from a distance as well. Its blooms are usually a crimson red and they typically bloom for more than 6 weeks. This Sedum attracts pollinators and butterflies.

If you have that “trouble spot” in or around your garden or home, try this Sedum out. Again, once established it will pretty much take care of itself and you will be pleased with the attractiveness and vibrant color it produces.

Vision in Pink Astilbe

Vision in Pink Astilbe

Our spotlight turns to the Vision in Pink Astilbe. This plant has a clear soft pink plume that would light up any garden that has a shady spot in it from mid to late Summer. The Astilbe is admired for an attractive foliage and the elegance of its plumes. It adds a fern like texture to your garden beds well after most blooms have faded away.

Visions in Pink Astilbe plumes give a striking contrast against a coarser textured bluish green foliage. The mid-Summer blooming are a great idea for containers or borders or even gardens that are located at the edge of woodlands.
They do require a well-drained soil that also stays moist and is highly organic. This particular Astilbe is a lot more tolerant of sun and drought than other Astilbes. For the greatest amount of color and enjoyment, mass them in groups in a partly shaded garden. You will be thrilled with its brilliance. Check out Heritage Hill Nursery for your Vision in Pink Astilbe today.
