HIBISCUS SUMMERIFIC `LILAC CRUSH`
$65.99
‘Lilac Crush’ adds a new color to the SUMMERIFIC® Series and a rare color among Hardy Hibiscus! Lilac flowers open 7-8″ wide with overlapping petals of a thick substance. The flowers will have cool tones under low temperature conditions. Similar to ‘Candy Crush’ and fellow newcomer ‘Valentine’s Crush’, ‘Lilac Crush’ has an upright, columnar habit that is very sturdy and resists lodging. Maple-like leaves are a rich green. Although later to emerge than most perennials in spring, these are fast growing plants capable of adding an inch of new growth a day. Excellent at brightening up end of season gardens.

Growth Tips | Hibiscus love the sun and need moist, well-drained soil. Keeping these plants watered will result in larger flowers and lush foliage. Deadheading will improve the appearance of the plant. Hibiscus should be heavily mulched the first winter. In spring, cut back any remaining stems before new growth appears. Hibiscus is always one of the last perennials to emerge in spring. Its vigorous growth rate more than makes up for this late start, however. Japanese beetles find these plants especially delicious. |
Hardiness Zone | 4-9 |
Container Size | #3 — A more mature container, with rootballs around 8 – 9 in wide and plants typically 18 – 24 in in height. Choose this for instant impact in the landscape or for established shrubs and vigorous perennials. |

Understanding Plant Pot Sizes
When you’re choosing plants, you’ll often see sizes listed as #1, #2, or #3 containers. These numbers refer to the volume of the pot, not the age of the plant.
#1 Pot – Holds about 1 gallon of soil. These are small starter plants, great for tight spaces or filling in around larger features.
#2 Pot – Holds about 2 gallons of soil. A medium size that balances affordability with faster establishment in the landscape.
#3 Pot – Holds about 3 gallons of soil. These larger plants give more immediate impact and tend to establish quickly.
Bigger pots generally mean more mature root systems, but the right choice depends on your project goals, timeline, and budget.
